Proof report · distance walk

We Tested AI Fire Detection on Existing CCTV from 10 to 40+ Feet. Here’s What Happened.

Same camera. Fire moved farther. Watch detection at each marked distance — then the siren and the phone alerts.

Direct answer

Yes — in this demonstration, AI Bot Eye detected visible fire on an existing CCTV path at 10 ft, 20 ft, 30 ft, and 40+ ft. Detection overlays appear in the feed. A local siren sounds. Alerts reach the phone through the app and WhatsApp. No new AI camera was required. This is one controlled distance walk — not a guarantee for every lens, flame size, or site view.

The recording

Watch the fire move from 10 to 40+ feet

The variable under test is distance. Everything else in the path stays the same.

Distance report

What showed up at each mark

Scoped to this video only. If the flame is not clearly in frame, range does not matter.

Field log · controlled walk Existing CCTV path · visible fire
10 ftClose-range start. Fire in view; detection overlay shown in the demonstration.
20 ftMid-range step. Same feed; fire moved farther; detection shown again.
30 ftFarther mid-range. Detection overlays continue at the next marked distance.
40+ ftLongest step in this walk. Visible fire at distance with detection shown — then siren and phone alerts.

After detection

Not just a box on the screen

Once fire is marked in the feed, the site and the phone both get the event.

  • 01 · Feed Detection overlay The recording shows the actual detection marks on the CCTV view at each distance.
  • 02 · Site Local siren Configured on-site alert so people near the camera hear that something happened.
  • 03 · Phone App + WhatsApp Alerts reach the phone so the team can know even when they are not beside the camera.

Why an existing camera works

AI is not inside the camera

The camera captures. The DVR passes the feed. AI Bot Eye analyses it on a separate on-premise machine.

Existing CCTV → DVR → AI Bot Eye → Siren + App + WhatsApp

Usable view still decides it. Distance only helps if the flame is clearly visible in a clean feed. Blocked or corrupted streams fail at any range — see Camera Health. For the analog age question, see the 15-year-old camera test.

Boundary

Visual early warning — not a fire panel

The siren here is AI Bot Eye’s configured local alert. It does not replace certified detectors, alarms, sprinklers or suppression. Your team still verifies and responds. This test is visible fire, not smoke.

Let us prove it on your cameras.

You saw 10, 20, 30 and 40+ feet on this path. Next step: your views, your risk zones.

FAQ

Distance questions

How far can CCTV detect fire?

In this demonstration: 10 ft, 20 ft, 30 ft, and 40+ ft on an existing CCTV path with visible fire in frame. Real sites still depend on lens, lighting, flame size and view quality.

Can existing CCTV detect fire at 40 feet?

In this controlled walk, yes — detection was shown at 40 ft and beyond, followed by siren and phone alerts. That does not mean every camera will match this view.

Do I need new AI cameras?

No. This test used an existing CCTV → DVR path. AI Bot Eye analysed the feed on a separate on-premise machine.

Does this replace certified fire alarms?

No. It is an additional visual early-warning layer. Certified systems stay authoritative.
